The Herb Bed (sigh……)

Messy. Messy. Messy. This is a spot in the garden that has run amuck. Apparently sage really, really likes the soil. I have a lot of it. I give it away all the time. The herb garden is in the back half of my yard and tends to collect a lot of leaves from a neighbor’s tree. It is a bit of a pain to keep tidy so it is next on my to-do list. I have a few things in addition to the sage that keeps coming back such as oregano and thyme plus I plant parsley, rosemary and basil each year. Although there are plenty of dried herbs on my spice rake, these are the ones that I use the most so I am glad they do well in my garden.

A few years back I scored a dehydrator at the local thrift store. It was listed for $5 but I gave them $10 for it. I was feeling pretty fortunate so I passed on the goodwill. I have used that dehydrator endlessly!

Another perk about the herb garden is that the deer tend to leave it alone. Apparently they view it as the condiment buffet rather than the real thing. I don’t even have a fence around it or a net over it. That is a win!
